3/3/07 UPDATE:Wellp, it's 2007 folks, and Vic has hit the 80,000 mark. I am behind on my updates, but here's what I have:
Last month my air suspension stopped working. The pump wouldn't go on. Vic became a low-rider... well, in the back, anyway. One night while searching for a potential blown fuse, we suddenly realized that the interior lights were not going off. For some reason, the car thought a door was open, and therefore kept the lights on. We took apart one door to see if something was up inside, but it was getting late, so instead Todd pulled out all the interior bulbs.
Here's the kicker. After we got the air pump replaced for the suspension, the "door ajar" issue disappeared! Go figure... I'm just glad it's all fixed.
I had to replace both bulbs in my third brake light. That was an easy fix... the hard part was finding the time to get to the store to buy bulbs!
It took a while, but we finally have snow here in eastern MA. But right now it is 50 outside... are we out of the woods?? I hope so, because my snow tires are getting real worn out! I think next year I may go for steel wheels and all new tires. We shall see.
Vic may need some front end work. Things are creeking pretty bad up there. The car has done well as far as front end issues, especially given how HORRIBLE the roads are around here. Again, we shall see what happens...
Todd just had ANOTHER transmission installed in Brown. This one should work, as it had 50 miles on it! The car it came from fell off a transport truck, and the car was totalled. So there should be NO PROBLEMS!!!! Yet again, we shall see...
Third brake light surgery
7/1/07 UPDATE:Todd has decided to make payments and get a newer Vic. I found a nice blue P71 online at a dealer that was used as a Ford demonstrater. It is a 2006 with about 13,000 miles. He's only had it about a week, but so far he really likes it. The hubcaps are NASTY looking, and he is having the front door ding-guards painted for installation. The car used to have all the toys to show police departments. In fact, it appears that the fire suppression system is still intact! We need to look under the car to know for sure.
Brown will have to be sold. We both liked Brown, but it just wasn't behaving...
9/11/07 UPDATE:Well folks, it’s been a long time since my last update. Truth is, I would rather not add this installment to my ongoing log, but I must, for the sake of continuity. So here it goes…
Last month, while waiting in my lane to get on the highway and go home, a woman decided to come into my lane and sideswipe me when the light turned green. She admitted she didn’t see me, despite my headlights being on and horn blaring for what seemed like forever. Without going into too many details, they ended up towing her car (my suspicion is that her registration was expired), and I didn’t have to pay a cent for repairs. I am not totally happy with the work done by the body shop, but I’m feeling a bit better about it than I did when I first got the car back. The whole topic kinda’ makes me sick…
So on a happier note, I finally fixed my low washer fluid light. It had been on for a while, even when the washer tank was full. I bought a new sensor, installed it in the tank, and all is well. And that’s good, because the low fluid warning makes the same sound as all those bad warnings do!
It appears I may need front brakes again. Motorcraft rotors warp way too easily! I also need an alignment to correct an alignment I got here at work after some front end work was done. The usual way-overdue-oil-change is… well… way overdue. I also have to start putting together my winter wheel/tire set. I may go with steel wheels this year. I have to decide soon!
